Welcome to the new travel series, City Guides, where our stockist friends all over the world take us on a tour through their neighborhood. We asked Sara Fuller, owner of beachwear boutique, Pam Pam Swim, to give us her local’s guide to Sydney’s eastern suburbs. Pam Pam was one of our first stockists in Australia so I am thrilled that she agreed to show us around!
How did you start Pam Pam and what makes the shop unique?
I saw that there was a gap in the market for beach style in Australia, after seeing stores in London and St. Tropez. There were so many vacation style labels we could not get here in Australia. This inspired me to create Pam Pam for Sydney sider.
What is your favorite Marysia style?
We opened 2 years ago, and we are proud to have stocked Marysia since day 1. The Palm Springs Maillot is my personal favorite and also our best selling swimsuit.
Best spot for a morning coffee?
Indigo Cafe. The best food and coffee in Double Bay happens to be next door to Pam Pam on Transvaal Avenue. After I have had my Super Elixir Protein smoothie bowl at home, taken my girls to school and walked the dogs up to Cliff walk in Vaucluse, I grab a coffee from Indigo on my way to Pam Pam about 9 AM.
Go to lunch with a view?
Lunch is always special at Catalina in Rose Bay. For a girls lunch or business lunch, I like to go to Catalina. This restaurant has a wow factor view and is situated on the harbour in Rose Bay 5 minutes from work. It showcases the best of our Aussie seafood, wines and cocktails! From here you can watch the seaplanes take off and the yachts cruise past.
Favorite restaurant for after work cocktails?
For a cocktail and dinner after work, I head to the Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel. It has a beachy laid back vibe and serves two of my favorite drinks at the moment, Frosé and Aperol Spritz. It is situated harbour side, 5 minutes from home in Watsons Bay. From here we watch the sun go down. We are lucky to call it our local pub!
Locals only beach?
Kutti Beach in Vaucluse. It’s also a favorite, secret spot of the locals…don’t tell them I told you! Enter via a very tiny staircase, follow it down and you will discover a small row of beachfront mansions and their boathouses joining a perfect stretch of golden sand. Kutti Beach feels a million miles away from the tourist mecca of Watsons Bay.
A must see for out of town visitors?
The cliff walk at Vaucluse- where I walk our dogs. We have a Labrador and miniature wire haired Dachshund.
